Southampton 3.0

Kearsarge Southampton (Southampton, NY)

About the Project:

Going live in April 2025, Kearsarge’s solar array located in Southampton, NY is over 6 MW DC, built atop the Town’s former North Sea Landfill. Kearsarge was selected by Southampton to develop, design, build, and operate the array through a competitive bid process. Initial site permitting started in 2023 and construction followed through the Fall of 2024. Energy credits and lease revenues will be provided to the Town, and Southampton residents will receive bill credits through the New York Community Solar program. Located in central Maine, Kearsarge co-developed the nearly 30 MW site with Walden Renewables. The site is located on approximately 110 acres of land and will contribute to the advancement of large scale utility projects in the area while delivering clean power. State of the art tracker technology enables Leeds’ solar panels to capture more sunlight throughout the day, improves resistance to wind damage, and allows panels to more fluidly shed snow and ice in the harsh Maine environment. Construction began in the summer of 2024 and the site started generating power in December of the same year.
